2020 Genoa Homecoming Cancelled

Dear Genoa Community members,

We are sorry to inform you that this year’s Homecoming event which was due to be held May 28th through May 30th, 2020 has been cancelled.  Following consultation with the Genoa Area Chamber of Commerce and recommendations from Ohio Governor, Mike DeWine, we feel it is not in the community’s best interest or safety to be having such a large gathering of the community. We attempted to come up with an alternative date but decided it was too impractical to guess as to when would be a safe timeframe during this COVID-19 pandemic.  We also felt it would not be fair to ask our small business members for donations in this time of likely financial crisis and uncertainty.

Amazingly, the Genoa Homecoming has been around for seventy-four years!  We will be back next year and plan to add some extra efforts to our Harvest Fest event in September 2020 to make up for the loss of this year’s Homecoming event.

Therefore, on behalf of the Genoa Area Chamber of Commerce, we would like to apologize for the cancellation, especially those who have dedicated their time and made arrangements for this event.  Unfortunately, these are circumstances well beyond our control and we plan to make next year’s Homecoming event even more spectacular.
